AUSTRIA AND THE PASSION PLAY IN OBERAMMERGAU,  2010.

• Many of you in the Guild will have heard the excellent talk on a visit to the Holy Land. The company which organised that trip, McCabe Pilgrimages, is also offering a visit to Austria and the Passion Play in Oberammergau in 2010. Since booking for the play opens this Easter, I have already taken an option on 25 places. 
  
• Our chosen holiday, including the 2010 Passion Play, can be found in the “Salzburg and its Lakes” section of the brochure. We shall stay for 5 nights half-board in the Schutzenhof Hotel, Fuschl, in Austria, ideally situated on the lakeside close to the village centre. Outside the hotel is a lakeside café and a boat-hire station. Fuschl is less than an hour’s drive from Salzburg. A programme of excursions, costing approx. £120, will be organised in the surrounding area, including an evening Mozart dinner concert in Salzburg. 
  
• The final two nights of our trip will be spent in Oberammergau where full board, local transportation, entry to the play and  museum and a play book are included in the cost. The duration of the performance is five hours with a three-hour break for dinner in the middle.(2.30-5pm, interval, 8pm-10.30pm.) Seats are under cover and there is under-floor heating.  
  
• THE COST of the trip is £1095.  Single room supplement in the Schutzenhof Hotel is £95. There are very few single rooms available in Fuschl and none in Oberammergau. I have chosen the option of hotel accommodation in or around Oberammergau which will allow our group to have better seats at the play. This option will cost an extra £100, and we shall be informed later if this request has been granted
  Large deposits reflect the early payments the company is required to pay to the organisers of the play in Oberammergau.
  
• INITIAL DEPOSIT is £200 per person and is due with completed booking form by FRIDAY, 16^th MAY, 2008.  A travel insurance policy is also offered for £34. There is flexibility with cancellations and name changes until July, 2009. After July, 2009, clients would claim refunds from the insurance company if they cancelled.
  
• A SECOND DEPOSIT of £300 is due in JULY, 2009

RHINE DISCOVERY

12th-19th DECEMBER, 2010, a river cruise visiting Germany, France and the Netherlands from Basel to Amsterdam. Viking River Cruises have a reduction of £1000 per couple and an equivalent reduction for singles if booked before the end of August, 2009. The cost includes full board on the ship, excursions and flights from Glasgow. Hynds Travel in Milngavie will once again be in charge of our booking arrangements. Visits will be made to the Black Forest, Alsace (Strasbourg and Colmar), Kehl, Speyer, Heidelberg, Mannheim, Rudesheim, Koblenz, Cologne, Kinderdijk and Amsterdam. Although this is not a Christmas Markets Tour, these will add greatly to the festive atmosphere in the towns. COST, including full board, excursions and flights from Glasgow : SINGLE CABIN E grade £981 DOUBLE/TWIN-BEDDED CABIN D grade (larger cabin than E grade) £995 each £1592 for single use Both E and D grade cabins are on the Main deck.
