Thoughts to refresh and challenge

“Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants. I will proclaim the name of the LORD. Oh, praise the greatness of our God! He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.”
Deuteronomy 32:2-4

1st Samuel 1:2-11

In chapter 1 verse 2 we read “Penninah had children; Hannah did not.”

The story of Hannah is well documented, but if you are unfamiliar with her then the six words above sum her life, or do they? She was married to Elkanah and he had two wives, one had children and the other (Hannah) did not. Throughout this week we will discover how she turned her life round

In the face of adversity and scorn she did not lie down to her critics and admit defeat. O.K. She wept, which made her human, but she had a prayerful plan and she saw it through to the end.

As we go through this week, we need to focus on facing our giants. It’s not about giving up; it’s about dedicating, giving, praying and celebrating life.

There is a verse in Proverbs that says, “A friend loves at all times but a brother is born for adversity”.The story of Hannah is not about adversity but about triumph, so read on for the rest of the week.

Prayer: Father God, we ask that you make us a better Christian to others and when we are with others. Help us make people feel included and not excluded. Help us to face our giants so that we will always be slow to judge and quick to accept our other brothers and sisters. Amen
