Thoughts to refresh and challenge

“Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants. I will proclaim the name of the LORD. Oh, praise the greatness of our God! He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.”
Deuteronomy 32:2-4

Daniel 7:1-14

We have come to a turning point in the book of Daniel. However this does not affect the overall message of the book. The same message is proclaimed but from a different angle. The chapters so far gave a chronological account of Daniel’s career in Babylon. The following chapters give account of Daniel’s visions and dreams that he saw and experienced himself. His visions carry the same message as the dreams of Nebuchadnezzar and the actions of God during the reigns of Belshazzar and Darius. God is a sovereign Lord; He alone is Lord of history. Kingdoms are raised, kings come and go, but God does not change. He is in control of history; He has power over each and every empire, king or emperor. Human kingdoms will succeed only until the coming of the Lord’s Anointed, the Messiah. His kingdom will be different than the earthly kingdoms. The difference is that His dominion will never end; His kingdom will never be destroyed.

Prayer: Everlasting God, your might outlasts the years, I thank you that you have power and authority over all, that you rule in righteousness and justice. Lord make me more part of your kingdom, for Jesus’ sake. Amen.
